Over Due Books — Rox

My sister and I would hang out at our downtown library in Binghamton, NY. The librarians got to know us, library brats. One day while in the main lobby of the library, I decided to kid around with my sister. I said a bit loudly, “ Hey, mom and dad wanted me to tell you you are adopted. I am saying this here because you seem really happy right now. Your real dad will be here soon.”

A few minutes passed and then all of a sudden an Asian man with a suitcase came into the library. The library went quieter than normal. All the librarians at the circulation desk swiveled their heads in our direction.

We burst out laughing. Then the librarians laughed as well.
