This article just showed up in my feed. I was hooked by Apple from the 1984 commercial. Apple their products screened we are not the same as PCs.
As of late I too have been less than enthusiastic about their products. Lunch with a friend, I asked about her iPhone X. She uses hers for photography. There was a lack of joy for her in owning it.
I had purchased my iPhone 6 in 2015 at an AT&T store. Absolutely no excitement there. I had noticed Apple’s reticence in allowing creative people to make their products their own. Back in the day there were great applications such as SoundMaster and of course changing icons and backgrounds. Apple products were made for rebel graphic designers.
I jumped on jail breaking my products. I jail broke an iTouch in order to put ebooks on to my iTouch a full year before Apple came out with iBooks. I am not thrilled with that app at all. It is slow and uninteresting. It has not been updated to anything interesting. A virtual look of a library would be cool. Remember cool Apple?
I am hesitant on upgrading any of my MAC desktop or laptop because, newer system software will not allow older creative suite programs to run. Looking at Adobe if you want to jump into the gam3 of graphic design Creative suite is now a service.
It seems we just rent out the Apple products we have. Waiting in a lackluster fashion for the next scheduled upgrade. Worried that our Bejewelled game will not work. I will fight this schedule obsolescence. Recently, I have replaced a battery and a screen on my iPhone 6. That still works. (I used to own a beloved TracPhone) I installed typewriter noise for my laptop. I am still fighting the good fight to make these products my own.
A timely article, even if it was a couple of years old.
