Thank you for your article. I am near a great Thrift store in Jacksonville Florida. It is not a Goodwill run one. I would disagree on the lily whiteness of thrift stores in general. I have seen a cross section of whites and African Americans shopping at many of the thrift stores, here and in large cities. I have been to thrift stores that do not exude the idea simpler times. Sometimes these stores reek of despair and loss. I have talked with people who shop there because they have to. I have come to find out that the many that need to shop there, really know what items are of quality.

You are right about the garbage being expensive in New York.
